A job as a data engineer is hard to find… unless you join Industry Connect!
Just ask Mel, a recent graduate of ours who has just secured herself a job as a data engineer.
We gave her a call to ask about her time with us.
Congratulations Mel! How was your internship with Industry Connect?
I’m really blessed that i was able to join industry connect because you guys are really amazing. You’ve been really a big support to us, like you’ve supported us throughout with all these tasks that in the real world would really be beneficial.
I’m living testimony to that. I didn’t know that my life can change like that. I thought I’ll be forever managing people or managing an office… that changed.
It’s not even one year! I started industry connect in May 2020, this year and it was amazing. It was really amazing, I’m not even kidding, I didn’t know what I was capable of before and you guys have opened up another passion in me that I didn’t know I had.
I’m an office manager in my current job and I’m doing reports – different reports for different stakeholders – and I thought that’s all about data but then when I came to Industry Connect, it broadened my mind.
I discovered that data like this can be interesting, it’s not just plainly reporting and all that stuff, it’s like putting together every piece to make sense be useful you know?
That was a good thing for me because during Covid I was really worrying about my future because I didn’t know what will happen, if I’m going to lose my job or whatever. Then I joined Industry Connect out of, I don’t know, desperation I guess!
I needed to do something instead of me wallowing or worrying. I needed to do something for myself, which I did and I’m really thankful that i did because you guys have opened up that perspective in me. I didn’t know that I wanted to do this, you guys have pushed me to that level, like “hey you’re meant to do this!”.
The second thing is that I’m not confident enough, especially with an IT job. I graduated IT way before 2011 and I don’t have the confidence but you guys, with all your feedback – and feedback is really important to people when they do something right or they’re doing something wrong – that helps a lot.
It brought confidence to me like you have no idea, that’s why I’m so thankful, I’m so thankful I’m really honored that I’ve been part of Industry Connect and MVP Studio.
Would you recommend Industry Connect?
When I went for the job as a data engineer, the girl interviewing me had a friend who wanted to join Industry Connect, and she ask about my experience. I told her it would really help and that she should join, so I’ve already recommended it to someone!
Those people who are tired of what they’re doing and want a change of environment or something, Industry Connect is a really great help. It gave me a different perspective which I think it will do for other people too.
The confidence that it would give you, it’s nothing compared what you’re going to be paying for the training or whatever.
It’s going to change your life and that’s why I would really recommend industry Connect because it changed mine.
It’s the best decision I made in my life, no exaggeration.
