“Without this internship, I wouldn’t even be qualified for the job.”
Alfred Vincent just landed a position as a BI Developer in the Health Industry after joining Industry Connect. We caught up with him before he started his new job to ask about his time with us and if he had any advice for people.
First of all, congratulations on your new position as a BI developer! How was your internship with Industry Connect?
What I feel like is I learned a lot of new stuff during this internship – stuff I didn’t even know existed or how to do it!
For example, data cleansing; I had no idea that was something that needs to be done with the data, that’s something I learned during the internship. Using Power BI, SSRS, SSIS – all that stuff – those were really new to me.
The job that I go, it’s basically based on that, so without this internship, I wouldn’t even be qualified for the job, so it really helped me.
What was your background before joining Industry Connect?
I did my studies in IT, but that was mainly web development and stuff. Then I was working in a café, so this is a big change for me with a big change in money.
Which part did you like the most during your internship?
The main thing is the data that you give, because it was hard. The data cleansing point, that was really hard, but that helps in the long run, it helps us to deal with stuff, that teaches us a lot. I found it really hard and I wanted to stop and do something else, but I thought I’d just give it a go, and that really helped me.
Actually, I gave up for a couple of months and I stopped doing it entirely, but then I started again, and I’m glad I did.
We’re glad too Alfred! Thanks for your time and good luck in your new position as a BI Developer!
What does BI Developer do?
Business intelligence developers make the data understandable for businesses!
Business intelligence (BI) leverages software tools to transform data into useful insights that help business decisions.
