Industry Connect helped me gain the confidence to get back into IT.
More good news from our interns! This time it’s Carlito who has found a job as a software developer.
Before he left to start his new career, we gave him a call and asked him about his time with us and if he had any advice for people thinking of joining Industry Connect.
Congratulations Carlito! You’re now a fully employed software developer! Tell us, how was your Industry Connect experience?
The training has been really good, I’ve been exposed to all these new technologies. Coming from C## everything is kinda new to me, so it’s been really good, and I was able to do my onboarding task well after that training.
And the community support is good as well. Most of the issues that I faced I could get them from Question Hub. There were just a few issues that I had to Google myself, but basically almost everything else is Question Hub. The community has been very good sharing knowledge issues they stumbled on upon the way.
My internship with Big Country really was a big help, because during my interview I was able to answer questions with examples of tasks I did with Big Country and how I solved issues and how I did certain features.
So I would really advise all these interns to get into the core team, because it really helps to get into the core team and do the upfront task, because it’s what we do anyway in the real world when we get a job. It helped me gain confidence that I could actually do the intermediate role.
Soft skills as well, I really learned a lot from the soft skills teachings. I got this session on how to prepare for an interview and I did all these common interview questions. For my real interview, I prepared my answers, and when I was asked a question, I just answered right away.
It seemed like it was scripted! I sounded really smart when I answered everything because I did prepare a lot using those tools and tips I got from Industry Connect.
So the soft skills and the technical skills are really good.
Would you recommend Industry Connect to others?
Yeah, I would be very happy to recommend Industry Connect and MVP Studio to others. In my experience it helped me a lot. It helped me gain the confidence to get back into IT.

Well thank you so much Carlito, and good luck in your new job as a software developer!
