The success stories keep coming, and this week it’s Archana who has landed a job as a BI developer. We sat down with her to ask about her time with us here at Industry Connect’s Sydney branch.
Firstly, congratulations on your new job as a BI Developer. Can you tell us a little bit about your background, such as where you’re from or what is your educational background is?
I am from India originally, and my education was in a Bachelor of engineering and industrial production. I did a post-graduation diploma in advanced computing, and I was working as a software developer with a bank in India before I moved to Sydney.
I came to Sydney with my newborn baby in 2012 and I took an intentional career break, and after a few years when I actually started looking for job, I realized I was not even getting calls for interviews.
So how long have you been looking for a job?
I was looking for a job for more than a year before I got introduced to Industry Connect, and now I’ve landed a job as a BI developer.
And how did the Industry Connect to help you to get back the IT industry?
At Industry Connect the initial six weeks training program actually helped me to update my technical skills, and also regain my confidence. Later during the internship I got to work on real-time projects. I was working for a project called property.community. I had an opportunity to work on the latest versions of database and I also learned more on visualization tools like power bi and data warehouse as well.
So if you come across someone who has a similar situation just like you, what would you tell them about Industry Connect?
I would highly recommend Industry Connect to anybody who wants to get in to local IT market. Immigrants who moved to Australia or a graduate or anybody who has passion for technology and wants to get into the IT market because Industry Connect, I believe, gave me the right platform and would give anybody the right platform to gain a technical knowledge. They also also helped me with CV creation and also gave me local references which is most important during interviews.
