A job as a BI Analyst is one of the industry’s most desired positions these days, but with so many people going for these jobs, how do you give yourself a fighting chance?
That was the question Fion Jiao was asking herself after coming out of University.
Just like everyone else who graduated from her year, she now needed a job.
But unlike everyone else, she did the smart thing; she contacted us.
She now works for the Tauranga District Health Board
“When I heard that I got the job I felt so excited – just like everyone who gets their first job! But this was special, because this was a job in the BI area, and that was a really big achievement.
“I only graduated a year ago, so yeah, I’m a really fresh Graduate, so landing a job as a BI Analyst is really big news, great news for me!”
So having been there and done that, what would Fion’s advice be for anyone who is struggling to find their first job in IT?
“I really encourage people to join Industry Connect if they want to land their first job, or take the next step in their IT career.
“For the BI Analyst position, I suggest everyone do what I did; learn by doing.
“After I graduated, I joined Industry Connect and immediately stepped into a real business environment, working on live projects.
“So yeah, I feel it’s important to learn things by really doing the work.”
