Preity arrived in New Zealand on a visitor visa in 2014, but of course like most people who come to New Zealand, she fell in love with the place and didn’t want to leave!
With a history in software development, it was easy enough to get a work visa. The real struggle began when Preity tried to find a job in software development.
“I started applying for jobs, and I don’t know why, but I didn’t get any responses. All negative responses, no positive responses,” she explains. “I knew then that to secure a job in New Zealand, it’s very important to have a New Zealand experience.”
Preity knew she didn’t have that experience, and so joined Industry Connect, hoping that we could help her find a job in software development.
“I joined Industry Connect and afterwards I joined Central Station as an intern. That’s when I started getting calls.”
And those calls have paid off, with Preity just securing her first job as a junior developer!
So, while she was here at Industry Connect, what kind of technical experience did Preity pick up?
“While I was here at Industry Connect, I learned ASP.net, C#, AngularJS, Kendo UI. I also learned here SSRS, so yeah, lots!
“I also improved my communication skills so much and I think now, I’m more confident and I can please anything actually.
