More good news coming out of Australia! This time it’s our Melbourne office with Priyanka landing a job as a junior test engineer.
We caught up with her before she started her new career to ask about her time with us and what she thought of Industry Connect.
Congratulations on your new job as a junior test engineer! Tell us, what did you think of the Industry Connect initiative?
Industry Connect is a strong platform, where we can get at least some useful things that are going on in the market, like upgrading your skills to a higher level.
Especially for people like me who have a large career gap, it’s really helped me a lot to get to know the real-life scenarios, like how the company works, what tools they use, and even what projects they are working on. You get real hands-on experience working on those projects.
So for me, even the tutors were so good, they explained everything in detail, every step, so I was very, very happy. It was all really helpful.
Do you think Industry Connect helped you become who you are today?
The sessions were very helpful for me, this was my first interview in Australia, so I was not confident at all and I didn’t know what to expect. I was trying to hide my career gap, but I was told not to. To focus on what I did know and what experience I did have. Little things during interviews like focusing more on your strengths and how good you’ll be for their team… these things really helped me a lot.
Even the CVs, I was taught how to write a CV, little things like putting experience at the top instead of education. These are things I didn’t know and they helped me find a job as a junior test engineer.
Would you recommend Industry Connect?
Yes, definitely, I already recommended Industry Connect. I have a friend who as approached me and she’s from an IT background and she wants to get into testing. I told her to go to you guys so I hope she will join soon.
I will definitely recommend you to people. I lost all my confidence in getting a job, because I already tried for a year and I didn’t think there would be any chance of me getting a job. I already switched my career to childcare, but then I found Industry Connect and it helped me get my confidence back.
So yes, I will definitely recommend Industry Connect.
