What would you suggest to people who are struggling in getting their first IT job?
I would say to get some some experience at large-scale projects. You will obviously get that here at Industry Connect. Once you finish the 6 week course you’ll be put into an internship so you’ll have some real awesome experience from commercial-scale projects.
Next I would advice to make connections at the network created by Industry Connect. Also go on LinkedIn and start building your profile.
Thirdly, I suggest updating your soft skills -have confidence in what you are doing.
What was your background before joining Industry Connect?
I do have some experience back in India, I came here and immediately started applying for interviews… and everything went straight into the bin! I didn’t even get a single interview.
After that I decided to join Industry Connect, and after my 6 weeks of training I was put into my internship. I was completing all my tasks on time with the help of my mentors. This was all good local experience that helped me get my new job as a web developer!
