If I was to rate Industry Connect from 1 to 10, I’d start at 10!
Once again Industry Connect has delivered the goods! This time it’s Yasmine who as found a job as a BI Developer with our guidance.
We caught up with her over Zoom to ask about her time with us and if she had any advice for others in the same situation she was in before finding Industry Connect.
Congratulations Yasmine! What’s it like finding a job as a BI Devloper? And how was your internship with Industry Connect?
I think if you ask me to rate you between 1 and 10, I should begin at 10! I think what I loved the most was all the people. The people here always support you, for example, when I was doing my individual project, people were always giving me feedback, being interactive.
Some people just sent me messages saying “I really like that dashboard design” or just called to talk with me, so really, things like that I really loved.
And that makes me want to help other people, to give them feedback. Every day people interacted with me, keeping me going, supporting me, encouraging me to keep going. Otherwise, if no one was there, I’d give up.
When it comes to job hunting, the goal is not to get an offer. The goal is what kind of person you want to be – I want to be a little scientist!
So that makes me feel like I can learn a lot. For example, in a job interview, I can learn from the senior people interviewing me. If I can answer their questions, I can ask them questions! Usually you have to pay for consulting, a thousand dollars an hour or something, so I’ll never have this chance again to do it for free!
It really is a fantastic chance, you just take everything as a practice and you’ll get there finally.
Would you recommend Industry Connect to others?
Oh yeah, of course! 100%!
It’s a great chance to step into the industry. Sometimes if you try and learn something by yourself, you need a couple of times to figure it out. Courses are all about the big picture, but this job-ready programme is more learning by doing.
